Workshop on Colour - Saturday April 28th

Eight talented students came on Saturday April 28th to the colour workshop I was offering at the studio.

After showing some examples of my artwork and where my inspiration for the colour palette came from, students made a basic colour wheel. We talked about how colour combinations work and how to use analogous and complementary colours in a painting. Students applied this knowledge to a painting of an animal of their choice.

Look at their FANTASTIC artwork!

MASC Arts Awards

I was asked to make a name tag for Amber who won the MASC Arts Award for visual arts.
I was inspired by a handmade paper I bought at de Serres in Ottawa. I used acrylic paint, acrylic ink, gel pens, beads and a piece of felt for the backing.

I really like the way it turned out

Teaching at Divine Infant School

I had a great time teaching the colour wheel workshop at Divine Infant School in Orleans last week. Sometimes it felt like I was a magician: Students were so enthusiastic and captivated.

Spring and Farmer's Market

I'm currently working on new paintings to show on May 26th, on the opening day of the North Gower Farmer's Market. The 2010 painting below was part of a series I did after visiting my friend Norma when she was living in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Painting at my sister Hélène's

Working with my sister Hélène was simply delightful. Set up at the table in her living room, we worked on our own projects. For Hélène: a sculpture made of paper clay representing coral, for myself continuing my watercolour series "village". Her parrot kept us company...

My paintings will be for sale at the North Gower Farmers Market Easter Sale on April 7, 2012
