Rockcliffe Park Public School

Two weeks ago I taught workshops en français on clay reptile in Rockcliffe Park Public School to grades 1, 2 and 3.  Students had a lot of fun making the sculpture, choosing colours and design for their reptiles.

Creating Layers: Inspirations

For the "Creating Layers" workshop on Saturday, I used images from Chartres cathedral and old map of Chartres in my work.
Here are few close ups of my experiment on creating layers. They look like mini paintings within a painting!

My third workshop at Holly Dean's studio was on Creating Layers
What kind of paint (fluid, soft body & heavy body acrylics) and acrylic mediums to choose to create various effects. We learned about interference paint and how to manipulate iridescent paint. How to conceal and reveals areas; pull forward and push others.

We learned various techniques on creating text in artwork using gel, embossing powder, oil pastel, India ink... and made a "sampler" of techniques.

Workshop on collage at Holly Dean's

Saturday I went to a workshop on collage at Holly Dean's studio.
We learned techniques on how to glue and which glue to use for a variety of  papers, how to "push back" a photograph in a collage (making the edge of the photograph less visible), where to find copyright-free images online, how to make your own imagery. We also learn about composition.
In the afternoon, we worked on a collage using our own imagery or the one provided by Holly. We received as well in our package beautiful textured papers to use in our collage.
