Ancient Greece, July summer visual art camp

Seventeen delightful students are attending the Ancient Greece visual art camp I'm offering at the studio until tomorrow.
Morning class working on the final project

Afternoon class painting with gouache

Students learned about printing techniques and Greek design for amphora:
· Creating the design inspired by Greek amphora pictures.
· Transferring the design on a foam board
· Applying the ink with a rubber brayer
· Printing on paper using a rubbing stick

Clay relief technique: Poseidon and Pegasus

  1. Yes, Veronique, this class looks like an ideal combination of understanding our cultural roots and applying that to our modern lives.
Perhaps you should dream about taking some of your students on the ultimate field trip--to Greece.
It is easier and cheaper than you might think. More at http://www.visit-ancient-greece.com/for-secondary-educators.html
    Cheers,
