Summer art books

I have been gathering supplies and books to experiment with new techniques this summer.
Here are some of the most recent books I received:

Daring adventures in paint
Mati Rose McDonough
Daring Adventures in Paint: Find Your Flow, Trust Your Path, and Discover Your Authentic Voice-Techniques for Painting, Sketching, and Mixed Media
I came across Mati Rose's artwork after reading Creative Pilgrimage
I enjoy her style of painting and colour choices. Her book is great for beginners, the directions are easy to follow. It will definitely inspire me for my own art or for my teaching.

Art at the speed of life
Pam Carriker

Art at the Speed of Life: motivation + inspiration for making mixed-media art every day
One of the best review about this book is by Joanne Sharpe. So many NEW techniques to try!

Surface treatment workshop: 45 mixed-media techniques
Darlene Olivia McElroy and Sandra Duran-Wilson
Surface Treatment Workshop: Explore 45 Mixed-Media Techniques

I own already a book on Image Transfer by the same authors. This one is as fantastic. I like the fact that the authors tell us how archival each technique is. Some of the techniques were not new to me but it's a great compilation of techniques in one book.

  1. Woh great books! Yoy suggested the last one on my blog wasn't it. I've put it on my wishing list on a national bookcampanies website. The first book might end up there as well :).
I've just ordered: Artist's Journal Workshop: Creating Your Life in Words and Pictures by Cathy Johnson. Can't wait to recieve it!
Enjoy your books and I'm looking forward to see what you've created!
