Art Classes starting the week of 
January 11, 2016

for children age 6 and up

Bilingual program

Monday from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm 

or Thursday from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm 

PROGRAM theme:  “Patterns from West Africa”

Students will learned specific principles of design, elements of design with each project as well as some cultural facts. A  variety of techniques will be explored.

Projects  inspired by

· Senufo Cloth from Ivory Coast (Painting on cloth)

· Adire patterns and meaning from south western Nigeria (Resist technique)

· Kente cloth from Ghana (Weaving)

· 3D mask

Monday class:  January 11, 18, 25, February 1, 8, 22, 29

Thursday class: January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11, 18, 25

Cost:

Payment by cheque or e-mail transfer$ 150 per child (HST and art supplies are included in the price)
Mail your registration and fee within 2 weeks from the date of registration or your space may be given away

If you decide to pay on layaway, please include both cheques with your registration form: a non refundable deposit of $80 by cheque and the balance (non refundable) of $70 paid by a cheque post dated January 1, 2016. This is required for each child at the time of registration to hold your space.

Unfortunately, my program is not suitable for children who need behavioral support. The program is designed for students who are interested in the art experience and who can manage in a structured learning environment. We focus for 1 1/2 hours  in a calm and respectful environment.

If your child is disruptive to this process, you will be notified within the first day of class. Your child will not be able to continue in the class and I will not be able to refund your money as I will not be able to replace your child's space at that time.

Thursday and Friday I taught a workshop on the colour wheel to Grade 1 to 3 students at Our Lady Of Wisdom School in Orleans. I have been teaching this workshop many times and never get tired of it. Mixing colour is like magic. I love to see students experimenting and getting excited discovering new colours smile emoticon

Students will learned about Mexican art and culture. They will be introduced to the art by Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and other artists .

Projects

· Students will create artwork in the style of each artist they studied.

· Students will make a “nicho” (3D shadow box) based on Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead
