George Braque
These artwork were inspired by George Braque. Students learned about the cubism movement.
The artwork is a mixed media including collage, gouache (for Braque), (acrylic for us) and drawing. I read that Braque and Picasso were the first artists to introduce recycled elements in their artwork. Pieces of newspaper and “faux” wood are very present in their artwork: the use of these recycled material allows the artwork to keep a “contact with reality” without becoming too abstract. George Braque reduced his colours range to be able to focus more on the organization of the shapes in his artwork.
